Samsung is gearing up to release its next flagship smartphone. But it seems like the South Korean tech giant isn’t ready to let go of its past yet as reports about a mini version of the Galaxy S6 has been making rounds across the web.
According to Vine Report, the company may actually be expanding the current Galaxy S6 line with a Galaxy S6 Mini. The rumor started after the said device was seen on a listing on a U.A.E.-based online retailer called Let’s Tango. The retail website now has the phone up for pre-registration, wherein interested consumers from the region can register their email address and receive notifications for updates on the availability of the device.
Let’s Tango posted also a photo of the alleged Galaxy S6 mini along with its full specifications. The price and the date of availability are not listed though. As noted in Android Headlines, the list of specifications that were made known include 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal storage. It’s not known if the storage capacity will be expandable.
The handset is said to carry a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a hexa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It will be pre-installed with operating system Android 5.1 Lollipop and will sport a 15-megapixel rear camera while its front will have a 5-megapixel camera. The regular Galaxy S6 comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera while the front is the just the same. A non-removable Li-Ion battery is also expected. However, it is not specified yet how much the battery capacity will be.
Ubergizmo also noted that the device will come with a fingerprint sensor which can be used for transactions with PayPal. It’s also said to come with the company’s official mobile payment service Samsung Pay, as noted in Christian Today.
As of now, those who are interested in getting the mini version will have to wait for more updates. The device is not available yet in Let’s Tango and it is still uncertain if other regions will also get it.
