The Science Museum celebrates 6% events growth

The Science Museum, South Kensington is celebrating 6% growth in its events business, year-on-year.

Jodie Guildford, event sales manager at the Science Museum, said 170 events had been held at the venue during the year to date.

In York, the Christmas period has been particularly successful for the National Railway Museum, the group reports, with 4,383 covers served, representing a 25% increase on 2014.

The National Railway Museum recently picked up a York Press Business Award for Best Tourism Hospitality Business of the Year.

Neil Ormondroyd, group events sales manager at the Science Museum Group, said: “In a challenging economic climate, the Science Museum Group is proud to have made several key achievements this year. It is fantastic to see both the Science Museum and National Railway Museum predicted to see year on year (total) growth of 11% and 15% respectively.

“Looking ahead to next year, our pipeline of events looks very promising.”

It is also beginning to look a lot like a satisfying Christmas for London event caterers Food by Dish, one of the Science Museum’s listed partners, which has seen a record 22% revenue-increase this festive season, compared to the same period in December 2014.

Food by Dish catered for 112 Christmas parties throughout the first three weeks of December, including 4,605 covers in one week. The team was also listed at the Eventim Apollo this year and now boast 25 unique venues in the portfolio.
