Brett Ferres has been transfer listed by Huddersfield following an investigation into his “conduct away from the field”.

The 29-year-old forward was last month provisionally suspended by the Super League club, just four days after helping England win their Test series against New Zealand.

A statement from the Giants revealed that suspension had been lifted following the completion of the internal investigation, but that their vice-captain had also been transfer listed and disciplined “in line with company policy”.

“Huddersfield Giants have concluded the investigation into the conduct away from the field which led to the suspension of Brett Ferres,” the statement read.

“That suspension has been lifted and Mr Ferres disciplined in line with company policy. Mr Ferres has also been transfer listed.

“The club will be making no further comment at this stage.”

Ferres played in all three matches during England’s 2-1 Test series triumph over New Zealand and has produced the best form of his career since moving to the John Smith’s Stadium from Castleford in 2012.

He had been given time off after England’s series win, along with international team-mates Jermaine McGillvary and Leroy Cudjoe, and had been due to report back to pre-season training on Monday.

It is not thought his conduct is connected to his behaviour in the England camp, where it is understood he was a model professional.

Ferres was named in the 2013 Super League Dream Team after playing a key role in his club’s league leaders’ shield success.
