Brandin Cooks listed as probable on injury report, can reenter fantasy lineups

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks practiced on Friday and is listed as probable on the team’s injury report, according to ESPN’s Mike Triplett.

It is a stunning turn of events after it was reported that Cooks suffered a concussion during Thursday’s practice. With the NFL’s strict concussion protocol, players usually take multiple days if not weeks passing through and getting cleared to return to the field. However, if Cooks did in fact have a concussion on Thursday, it took him an unprecedented 24 hours to gain medical clearance.

Fantasy impact: Mid-week injuries never bode well for a player’s status, but with Cooks returning to practice so fast, fantasy owners can once again feel confident about his status for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Because the Saints have a 1 p.m. game, fantasy owners have the luxury of finding out Cooks’ status while they still have bench options available.

It would do fantasy owners well to check active rosters 90 minutes before game time, but Cooks’ probable designation makes him a virtual certainty to suit up. He will be a WR2/WR3 for Week 14.
