The Royal College of
Physicians (RCP) has seen a 34 per cent year-on-year increase in association
bookings from January to October.
The London-based
medical venue says there has been
particular increase from medical and pharmaceutical related associations, which
accounted for 57 per cent of all meetings at the venue in December.
The RCP says the
increase in confirmed business and enquiries from association event planners
was a result of last year’s high profile celebrations for the 50th anniversary
of its Grade I listed building by Sir Denys Lasdun and the venue’s
involvement in London’s Knowledge Quarter, an initiative launched in December
2014.
Natacha Allen, sales
and marketing manager at the RCP, said: “We’re pleased to have had such success
with the associations sector over the last 12 months. We’ve seen a great legacy
from the 50th anniversary of our iconic building which we celebrated last year
and the launch of the Knowledge Quarter has played an important part in the
development of our offering in the heart of the educational hub.”
The Knowledge
Quarter is a growing partnership of 35 academic, cultural, research, scientific
and media organisations based in Kings Cross, Euston and Bloomsbury in London,
launched by Chancellor George Osborne on Thursday 4 December 2014.
The aim of the
Knowledge Quarter is to make the outstanding facilities, collections and
expertise of its members understood, available and used as widely as possible
for the benefit of researchers, creative people, students and the local
community.
