SATURDAY, NOV. 7
• The D*A*S*H 47130 5K Run/Walk and Veterans Tribute will be held Saturday. Walk, run, or roll in this 3.1-mile event along the riverfront of Downtown Jeffersonville. The Veterans Tribute is at 9:15 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. Registration fee is $20
SUNDAY, NOV. 8
Clarksville
• The Clarksville Historical Society will again host the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Clarksville War Memorial, located on the campus of the Clarksville Municipal Center, 2000 Broadway Clarksville. The ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday. Music will be performed by the Singers of the Son of the Ohio Falls United Methodist Church, Clarksville. Color Guard provided by the American Legion Post 204 Honor Guard, Sellersburg. The guest speaker will be John Mustain, Director of Veteran Outreach for the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana. Mustain also is the co-founder and CEO of the Kentucky Veterans of the Year Initiative.
Jeffersonville
• A community Veterans Day ceremony will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Clark Street and Riverside Drive, close to the Big Four Bridge. Speakers will be state Sen. Ron Grooms and state Rep. Steve Stemler.
SUNDAY, NOV. 11
New Albany
• VFW Post 3281, 232 E. Fifth St., New Albany, will open at 9:30 a.m. on Veterans Day. Veterans and supporters will march toward the war memorial on Market Street at 10:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. annual program.
New Albany
• American Legion Post 28, 1930 McDonald Lane, New Albany, will sponsor a Veterans Day dinner, starting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday. Scott Ham will be the guest speaker, followed by a musical tribute, “To America,” by the Spiritual Wonders. Help veterans celebrate the 70th anniversary of the End of World War II.
• The Ogle Center at Indiana University Southeast will present the USAF Band of Mid-America’s Liberty Clarinet Quartet in a free concert on Veterans Day at 7 p.m. in the Millicent and Norman Stiefler Recital Hall in the Ogle Center on the IU Southeast campus, No tickets are required.
OTHER EVENTS
• Great Clips salons are offering a free haircut to veterans from Nov. 11 through Dec. 31. Customers come in for a service on Veterans Day on Sunday and get a free haircut card to give to a veteran, redeemable through the end of 2015. Limit one card per customer. Veterans who visit Great Clips on Nov. 11 receive either a free haircut that day or a free haircut card to redeem by Dec. 31. After Nov. 11, veterans must have a free haircut card to get the free haircut.
• Honoring those who served on Veterans Day, free meals will be offered to all veterans all day Wednesday at Olive Garden. Golden Corral will be offering free meals to veterans from 5 to 9 p.m. A free bloomin’ onion and a beverage will be offered at Outback Steakhouse. Longhorn Steakhouse will offer a free T-Onion. During the week of Nov. 9-12 at Red Lobster, all veterans receive a free dessert.
