REVISED plans have been tabled to create hundreds of student flats in the heart of Aberdeen.
These are the exclusive new images showing how the proposed student accommodation at the city’s Triple Kirks could look if the plans are approved.
Dandara has revised the proposals following consultation events with members of the public.
The plans now involve the creation of 341 units over 13 storeys, four more units than what was previously proposed.
Only 10 storeys would be visible from Schoolhill, with the others built down to Denburn Road. If given the green light, the development would contain 175 studio flats and 166 en-suite rooms.
A cafe, gym, cinema room, games room and common rooms would also be included in the £20 million scheme.
The cafe would be available for members of the public to use as well as those living within the complex.
The main entrance to the development would be taken from Schoolhill with access for vehicles being taken from Denburn Road.
A statement on behalf of Dandara said: “Unlike previous proposals for the development of the site this, latest proposal has been designed to retain the category A listed Spire as a key element of the design.
“In doing so, the proposal is respectful to the spire and current views of the spire from Union Street Bridge, Schoolhill, Blackfriars Street and Union Terrace Gardens are secured.
“The materials and scale of the building are all considered to have a positive impact on the retained Spire and listed buildings in the area.”
The development would be car-free and would only contain five car parking spaces, including two disabled spaces and a motorcycle space.
