Think of Halloween food and it’s usually pumpkins that come to mind.
We’ve already shown you where to find them – and how to carve the perfect jack-o-lantern.
But there’s far more to Halloween cuisine than ghoulish gourds carved into monstrous masks.
Birmingham has some fiendishly good food events on offer. Here’s the details:
Kings Heath Halloween Food Festival
Food Birmingham is bringing us its very first Food Festival. This takes place in Kings Heath Village Square from noon to 8pm on Saturday, October 31.
There will be fancy dress, food stalls, face painting, pumpkin fun, spooky cocktails and a bar, plus arts and crafts stalls including horror-themed game stalls. All ages are welcome.
The array of alcohol will also include locally produced beer, ale and cider.
And there will be a marquee in case it rains, to stop all that Halloween face paint from getting ruined and washing off.
Live music will be performed from 4pm to 8pm.

Halloween Feast at Botanical Gardens
Taste Liquor have teamed up with Birmingham Botanical Gardens to host a Halloween Feast on October 31.
The Botanical Gardens will be lit up to create a spooky atmosphere for some gruesome fun and as it gets darker, there will be a spooky forest trail among the heritage grounds to explore the secret pathways. There will be also be face painting for children, arts, crafts and live music during the day.
Mouth-watering street food will be supplied by Press De Cuba, Good Grub, Southern Oven, Fancy Fries, Bailey’s Caribbean, Smokin Spice and more, and there will be fresh cakes, desserts and sweets provided by Claire who is an Irish National Sports athlete sponsored by New Balance. If you fancy a warm tipple or two, drinks will be supplied by The Rum Bar, who will be serving a selection of the finest rums and cocktails.
And don’t forget to dress up in your scariest outfits and bring your lantern.
Free entry to Botanical Gardens members. Usual door entry prices for non-members – adult £7, children over five and senior citizens £4.75, children under five free.
The Botanical Gardens are at Westbourne Road, Edgbaston. B15 3TR.
Halloween street food at St Paul’s Square
Taste and Liquor are also offering creepy tunes, street food and live music in the stunning grounds of St Paul’s Square and Church on October 31.
It gives a Halloween twist to the city’s heritage. The elegant tree-lined area of St Paul’s is Birmingham’s last remaining Georgian Square, of which the Grade I listed ‘Jewellers’ Church’ of St. Paul’s, built in 1779, is the centrepiece.
St Paul’s Square was developed in the 1770s and by the 19th century was one of the most desirable districts in the Midlands.
The square was recently voted in the top 20 urban picnic areas by The Independent newspaper.
St Paul’s was the church of the famous industrialists Matthew Boulton (whose pew was number 23) and James Watt.
The main feature of the church is Francis Eginton’s painted window showing the conversion of St Paul, copied from an original by Benjamin West, a past American President of the Royal Academy.
Another talking point is the Millennium Window – designed by Rachael Thomas and sponsored by the Assay Office – which includes a map of the Jewellery Quarter.
Taste and Liquor’s aim is to celebrate West Midland’s local history and giving access to thousands of places usually closed to the public with unique pop-up street events.
Admission is free to the Halloween event, which takes place from 6.30pm to 10pm.
