Plans for 57 new homes on agricultural land in Wrexham have been put forward.
Gower Homes wants to build a mixture of properties on a greenfield site off Griffiths Road in Gwersyllt , which is directly opposite the Grade II listed Stansty Hall.
The Wrexham company is proposing affordable, first time buyer and open market family homes along with a pedestrian crossing, footpaths, cycle links and new green spaces.

Ward councillor Arfon Jones says a lot of nearby residents are opposed to the plans, and he believes the housebuilder is taking advantage of the fact that Wrexham Council does not have a Local Development Plan (LDP) in place.
An outline planning application submitted to the authority by Gower Homes states: “The site is in a highly sustainable location with direct links to public transport bus services and local services including a primary school, playing fields, the local shops, places of worship, public houses, railway station and a Post Office – all within close walking distance.
“The proposals have been developed in consultation with Wrexham County Borough Council and key consultees and changes have been incorporated into the proposals wherever possible. The proposals will deliver a high quality place to live in a highly sustainable location.”
Plans to give Wrexham a 21st-century town centre put out to consultation
Gower Homes says the council’s lack of a land supply for new homes would need to be considered when assessing the site, and that the benefits of an extra 57 properties could “far outweigh some minor constraints”.
The planning application adds: “Gwersyllt is recognised as being a sustainable settlement where development may be accommodated.
“The emergent LDP (Local Development Plan) identify that some 3,411 new homes will need to be built on greenfield sites to meet the demand.”
The company says it approached ward councillor Arfon Jones about its plans but he “declined to meet”.
Cllr Jones told the Daily Post: “These homes are affecting dozens of people and they should consult with the properties affected.
“I’ve been to all the properties and there is a lot of opposition to this proposal, therefore I will be opposing it. It’s in the green barrier and they are taking advantage of the fact there is no LDP.”
