JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Texans have added Pro Bowl defensive end J.J. Watt to the injury report with an illness one day before their road game Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Although Watt obviously isn’t feeling well to be on the injury report, he is expected to play after going through a regimen of rest and fluids to ensure proper hydration.

Watt was listed as questionable on the injury report Saturday, a late addition to the report after practicing all week. By listing Watt as questionable, the Texans are denoting that he has a 50 percent chance of playing in the game.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, who leads the 1-4 Texans with four sacks and sacked Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles six times in two games last season, seemed fine at practice and in the locker room this week. Watt has been extremely durable and reliable, starting all 69 games of his NFL career. In his fifth NFL season, Watt, 26, has recorded 61 career sacks with a dozen forced fumbles.

A few other players have dealt with flu symptoms over the past week, including reserve cornerback A.J. Bouye and rookie wide receiver Jaelen Strong. Bouye returned to practice Friday and participated fully and is listed as probable. Strong, who caught two touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts last week, is questionable and didn’t practice Friday because of an illness.

The Texans’ front seven will already be missing starting outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, who was ruled out Friday due to a sprained right ankle that sidelined him all week. Clowney will be replaced on the right side at Jack outside linebacker by Whitney Mercilus with John Simon lining up at Mercilus’ usual Sam outside linebacker position.

Veteran defensive end Jared Crick returned to practice Friday from a right knee injury and participated fully. Although Crick is listed as questionable, both he and Texans coach Bill O’Brien expect him to line up against the 1-4 Jaguars.
