One of Alpharetta’s growing events, the Wire and Wood Festival, has been chosen as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) for October 2015.
The Southeast Tourism Society developed the STS Top 20 Events program to recognize successful festivals and special events across the southeast. Independent judges evaluate nominations to select 20 top events across the region each month.
The STS Events publication, where the 20 events are listed, receives extensive exposure in print media, web, television and radio in the U.S. and Canada. Over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations and AAA offices receive the publication.
“We are very excited that Wire and Wood has been selected to appear in the STS Top 20 listings for 2015,” said Janet Rodgers, president and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It is an honor to be selected from among the greatest events taking place in the southeast states. With the event growing every year since its debut in 2013, the October 2015 event will be bigger than ever with the festival spanning over three days with well-known performing artists showcasing their best performances.”
Over 25 nationally recognized singer-songwriters will gather together for three days of concerts on three stages to perform their original songs.
The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. A free kickoff performance featuring Nashville-based award-winning singer songwriter Liz Longley and bluegrass-country-punk band The Whiskey Gentry will take place at Avalon from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.
Longley is touring in support of her debut self-titled Sugar Hill Records release. The purchase of a $30 wristband will give patrons entry to both Friday and Saturday concerts. Kids 12 and under accompanied by an adult get in free. Tickets and more details are available at www.wireandwoodalpharetta.com.
