A LONDON property developer has been given the go ahead to turn one of Bradford’s most striking buildings into apartments.
Vantage Apartments revealed their plans to turn Grade II listed 46 Peckover Street in Little Germany into one and two bedroom apartments last month, submitting a Little Germany Area Local Listed Building Consent Order to Bradford Council.
Earlier this year Little Germany became the first place in the UK to become subject to a relaxation of planning rules, making it easier to bring empty buildings back into use. This is the first building to have its use changed under the new rules.
The order, which has now been approved, will allow the company to make minor alterations to the building, which dates back to 1871, to allow the change of use from offices to 33 flats.
Tyla Angelis, of Vantage Apartments, said: “The Grade II listed grand building has been vacant for several years now and I’m excited be the first development scheme to go ahead since the new law was passed in the summer, bringing back such an iconic and beautiful building back to life by redeveloping the building into large luxury high-end apartments.”
