A planning application for 40 homes at land north of Birchen Lane, Haywards Heath, has been made.

Crest Nicholson has revised the application, which has previously been submitted to Mid Sussex District Council and which is the subject of an appeal.

The new application has a reduced number of houses, 48 down to 40, removed access via Birchen Lane, apart from emergency vehicles, and the field to the south of the site will no longer be developed.

A spokesperson for Crest Nicholson said these changes will ensure any potential impact on the setting of nearby Grade II-listed Sunte House is removed.

After residents’ voiced concerns over flooding in the area, Crest Nicholson undertook ‘further technical investigations’ which found there is a ‘low risk of potential flooding from the development’.
