Grade II-listed East Anglia hotel acquired

Christie + Co has announced the sale of the Best Western Priory Hotel to Cameron Ventures Group off an asking price of £1.25m.

This is the second acquisition for the company, which already owns and operates the 40-bedroom Best Western Brome Grange Hotel on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

The Priory is a grade II-listed property with parts dating back to the 16th century. Over the last few years, the period building has been restored and extended to offer extensive dining and function areas together with 36 en-suite letting rooms.

Many of the letting rooms are courtyard and garden rooms overlooking the grounds which extend to over an acre and formerly occupied a friary in 1250 AD.

Tim Gooding, director at Christie + Co’s Ipswich Office handled the sale. He said: “We are delighted to have sold the business and we are sure that the buyers, who have doubled their room capacity in the region with this purchase, will continue to grow further. We wish them all the best with this exciting new venture.”
