Organising activities is now easier as Gmail and Google Calendar starts working together. Google recently announced its new Gmail feature that will allow any confirmed reservations on hotels, restaurants, flights and even event schedules, automatically listed on Google Calendar.
Gmail and Calendar’s collaboration was announced on Google’s blog post. The tech company aims to help people save time from copying and pasting or typing their schedules on Google Calendar by automatically adding any confirmed activity sent to their Gmail.
When an individual buys a flight ticket, and gets a confirmation of their purchase or reservation via Gmail, that information automatically gets listed on Google Calendar. In addition to the confirmation, the Calendar will also list down the flight number, check-in times and even notifies the user if there are any changes on their flight (like if the flight is delayed or scheduled earlier).
The more information Gmail acquires from every confirmed plan, the more organised Google Calendar becomes. The best part is how it will notify users of the changes as well as remind them of plans for the coming days. In addition, users can also check out their schedules by asking via Google Now.
For those who may have received event emails in their Gmail that doesn’t need to be added to their Google Calendar, users can immediately delete these after it gets automatically listed as part of their schedule. Users are advised to do this as soon as possible to eliminate any unnecessary notifications.
Google plans to have this newest feature a Rapid release next week. However, its scheduled release will be two weeks later. According to Google’s blog post concerning the feature, individuals who are using Calendar will see an “in-product screen” when they open Calendar for the first time after its update. The in-product screen will be shown whether users opened their Calendars on mobile or on the web.
Google will enable the feature by default via desktop or mobile. It will also be available for both iOS and Android users except and even Google Apps Customers. However, this new Google update for Calendar and Gmail will not be available on Google Apps for Government.
The events added from Gmail to Calendar will only be accessible by the account owner. To check out more of this feature’s launch date, check out Google’s launch calendar.
