“Smoked Out” Fundraiser for Flying Fish: On Aug. 19 from 6 – 9 p.m., Flying Fish and Prettymans General will host a seven-course dinner featuring Flying Fish house-smoked fishes, oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktails and wasabi sorbet. Wine, sake and beer pairings are available. Dinner is $50/person. Tickets are available for purchase online.
MyMusicRx benefit at Penner-Ash Wine Cellars with Béla Fleck: Penner-Ash Wine Cellars will host an evening of food, wine and music on Aug. 22. 15-time Grammy Award winning musician, Béla Fleck, known as the premier banjo player in the world, will perform an intimate concert with singer-songwriter Abigail Washburn at the winery as a benefit for the Children’s Cancer Association‘s MyMusicRx program. Chef Vitaly Paley will prepare a picnic for guests to enjoy on the lawn. Tickets for the Bela Fleck concert, wine and picnic dinner are $125/person and available at joyrx.org/winery. Seating will be outside on the lawn, festival chairs and blankets are welcome.
“Dinners in the Field” 2015: The third annual “Dinners in the Field” series from Field Vine and chef Pascal Chureau expands to 20 dinners in 2015 and grows to include Stoller Vineyards, Dobbes Family Estate, Gompers Gin, Deschutes Brewery, Owen Roe Cellars, Portland Creamery and new venues, including the Rosse Posse Elk Farm and the Long Farm Barn, Daniel Boone’s 150-year-old family farm in West Linn. Dinner guests will enjoy a six- to seven-course dinner paired with wine, beer or spirits from nearby wineries, breweries and distilleries, and a tour of the space. Backyard Vibes with Trillblazin and Secret Aardvark: On Aug. 23 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Southeast Portland’s Produce Row will host Secret Aardvark and Trillblazin for Backyard Vibes, which will mix a Secret Aardvark menu takeover, hip-hop sound track and classic backyard barbecue vibes. The menu will run through the entire day. Music from DJ Evil One and Benslamin begins at 2 p.m. Backyard vibes will be an all ages event, with wristbands for 21+. Find more details here.
31 oysters for 31 days at The Heathman Restaurant: Throughout the month of August, executive chef Michael Stanton will feature 31 different oyster dishes, one new preparation each day. Guests can also enjoy oyster specials including half a dozen oysters on the half shell with a half glass of sparkling wine or rose or an oyster flight in addition to the oyster of the day. New hours at Gruner: Starting Aug. 10, Southwest Portland’s Gruner will be adjusting their hours. The restaurant will no longer serve lunch and will close Mondays. The new hours will be Tuesday – Saturday from 5 – 10 p.m. Chef de cuisine Jake Sheffield, who has run the kitchen for the past six years, will also be leaving the restaurant to take on a new project beginning Aug. 15. Line cook Keith Morris will take over as chef de cuisine.
Flamenco Fridays at Bar Vivant: Every Friday in August, Bar Vivant will be hosting free flamenco performances from 7 – 9 p.m.
Wild About Game tickets on sale now: Wild About Game, Nicky USA‘s 15th annual cooking competition and celebration of specialty game will be held at the Resort at the Mountain on Oct. 11. Attendees will sample each dish to vote for a winner and enjoy the Jacobsen Salt Artisan Marketplace, where the region’s favorite small-batch producers sample their products, including artisan salts, cheeses, chocolates, ice cream, spirits, wine, beer, Nicky Farms proteins and more. Tickets for $65/person in advance and $75 at the door. Participating chefs include Johanna Ware (Smallwares), Doug Adams (Imperial), Andrew Mace (Le Pigeon), Carlo Lamagna (Clyde Common), Stuart Lane (Spinasse, Seattle) and more.
Free movie night at Pix Patisserie: Join Pix and Bar Vivant for a screening of classic movies along with a beer and free popcorn every Wednesday from May 20 – Sept. 30. Movies will be shown in our outdoor courtyard. The six tap Beer Cider Garden will open at 8 p.m. and feature a themed beverage with each movie. Movies will start around 9 p.m. Minors welcome, but viewer discretion is advised. Minimum $5 food or beverage purchase required per person.

Oyster roast at the coast: Foster’s Craft Cooking is teaming up with Nevør Shellfish Farm and Merit Badge for an end-of-summer celebration at the beautiful Oregon coast on Aug. 30. Twenty-five guests will double down on just-harvested Nevør Netarts oysters, both freshly shucked on the half shell and roasted over open flames, sweet summer corn, seasonal sides and salads, smoky grilled oysters with melted butter, beer, wine and cocktails. Dinner is $50/person and include endless oysters and food and a welcome beer or sparkling wine. Additional beer, wine and cocktails will be available for purchase, as will farm-direct oysters to take home. Tickets can be purchased online.
Do Right Sunday at Dig a Pony: To benefit the Raphael House of Portland, Dig a Pony and DJs Deena Bee Hot Biology will host a free fundraiser on Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. 10 percent of daily sales will be donated to Raphael House.
Menu Pyramid Dinner Parties at The American Local: The American Local is hosting a four-part (over four months) dinner party series, where the restaurant will celebrate the four parts of the menu (fish, veggies, sticks and comfort). The restaurants will host the monthly dinners on the last Monday of the month. Currently the dinners have been postponed a month. The first dinner is focused on local fish and will be held sometime in August with reservations from 6 – 8 p.m. Dinner is $60/person, food only. TBA: 15 opening night dinner: On Sept. 10, to kick off the first night of TBA:15, guests will enjoy a sneak peek of the Festival’s visual art program and a champagne toast before dinner at our TBA:15’s central hub. Taste of the Place Dinner Series at Skamania Lodge: Executive chef Matt Hale will pair up with a winery or brewery at five, four-course dinners throughout the year. Each dinner is $75/person, tax and gratuity not included. The next dinner is on Oct. 18 with Garnier Vineyards. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 509-427-7700. The final dinner is on Dec. 20 with L’Ecole No 41.
