Mike Babcock’s Northville home listed for sale; now isn’t

The house Mike Babcock lived in when he coached the Detroit Red Wings went up for sale last week but it wasn’t on the market long.

Babcock’s home at 17891 Stonebrook Court in Northville was put up for sale at $769,710 but the listing is no longer “active,” according to a representative for Realtor.com.

Whether that means it sold or is off the market is uncertain.

The two-story, 4,486-square foot house sits on nearly a half-acre of land, has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and a “colossal” master suite, according to Realty Today

It’s located on a private, wooded lot and is near Northville High School.

“The kitchen has wraparound cabinets and high-end appliances, and the living room has double-decker windows,” said a listing on Realtor.com. “The study, with its built-in shelves and dark wood paneling, is a space befitting the only coach in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Triple Gold Club. The master suite is large and bright with tray ceilings, an impressive walk-in closet, and a massive bathroom with spa tub.”

The “Triple Gold Club” is a reference to Babcock having coached the Red Wings to the 2008 Stanley Cup and Team Canada to the Olympic gold medal and world championship. No other coach has done that.

Babcock left the Red Wings in May after 10 seasons in Detroit to sign an eight-year, $50-million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
