Clone claims Listed honours

Divine (5-2) quickened in eyecatching fashion off a slow pace to take Listed honours in the EBF Stallions Highfield Farm Flying Fillies’ Stakes at Pontefract.
Silvestre de Sousa, who is currently clear leader in the race to be champion jockey, had the Mick Channon-trained filly in the right place throughout.
Sharing the lead with Online Alexander, the pair kept ahead of the rest as they fought out the finish, with Divine coming out on top by a neck and 6-4 favourite Interception four and a half lengths away in third.
“Nobody wanted to go on so I just dropped her out and went slow early on, but after the five we started to quicken up and she got home in great style,” said De Sousa.
“I won on her earlier in the spring and I knew off a slow pace she would quicken up from me.”
Channon’s travelling head girl Lesley White said: “She was badly hampered at Newbury last time and we thought she’d go close today.
“They went slow early doors and it was perfect for her. Silvestre knows her and she deserved this.”
Just seven went to post after four horses were withdrawn, one being Eddie Lynam’s Byzantium. The intended Irish raider was taken out after tearing a plate.
