Derelict listed building gutted by fire

A DERELICT listed building was gutted by a fire today.

Fire fighters were called to tackle a blaze at Sandford Lodge, near Boddam at 2.30am.

Six crews fought the fire at the Grade B listed property for more than five hours.

Six fire crews, a height vehicle and a water carrier attended the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “It was quite an extensive fire, our crews were still on the scene at 6am with crews damping down.

“We sent two crews from Peterhead and Ellon, a height vehicle from Aberdeen and water carrier from Turriff.”
