THERE are plenty of interesting buildings to take in around Bedfordshire, including notable listed sites dotted across the town.
Some you may recognise but others you might never have guessed are listed buildings or structures.
For example, who would have thought the Elephant House at Whipsnade Zoo was designed by eminent modernist architect, Berthold Lubetkin, and is Grade II listed?
Grade I buildings are of ‘exceptional interest’, Grade II* are buildings that are of ‘particular importance’ and Grade II buildings are of ‘special interest’.
Around 94 per cent of listed buildings across the country fall into this category.
