The space occupied by Biggby Coffee at 539 E. Liberty in downtown Ann Arbor has been listed for lease, but company representatives refuse to comment on the store’s future.

The 1,748 square-foot space has been listed by Swisher Commercial since late February at a rate of $45 per square foot for the year. Monthly rent on the space is $6,555.

Representatives from Swisher would not speculate on whether Biggby is leaving the space, but did confirm the space is being listed by the company.

Biggby Coffee declined to comment on the status of the location and attempts to reach the franchisee have been unsuccessful.

The storefront is part of the Michigan Theater building according to the listing and is centrally located in downtown Ann Arbor near the University of Michigan campus. The listing says the space will be available on Sept. 1.

Biggby operates several locations in Washtenaw County and opened a location on the corner of Ellsworth and Platt Roads in Ann Arbor earlier this year.

Other coffee shops near the Biggby on East Liberty include Sweetwaters, Starbucks, Comet Coffee, Lab and Espresso Royale.
