Why do people think ‘Anakin Skywalker’ child actor Jake Lloyd’s arrest is so funny?
People seem to think it’s hilarious that former child actor Jake Lloyd has been arrested after a high-speed chase.
And if you’re a Star Wars fan you’ll probably understand, as he played young Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 movie Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
The jokes are already circulating online about podracing – a popular sport enjoyed in the fictional galaxy – especially by little Anakin.
Be sensitive of Jake Lloyd’s arrest. His PTSD from Phantom Menace clearly triggered pod racing flashbacks.

Other jokes include the Guardian headline: “May the police force be with you”.
And here’s a photo that fits the story – take your hand off the gear stick Jake!
Colleton County Sheriff’s Sergeant Kyle Strickland said today deputies on Wednesday arrested a 26-year-old man they confirmed through a former talent agent was Jake.
Sgt Strickland said the man gave his name as Jake Broadbent. He has a birthdate that matched the actor’s as listed by a movie database and his hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado, where Lloyd was born.
Sgt Strickland said the man was charged with reckless driving after hitting speeds over 100 miles an hour before crashing into trees off Interstate 95. He remained in jail today.
