The Courteeners at Heaton Park: Limited tickets available for the Manchester …

Manchester-formed band The Courteeners will be coming to Heaton Park next month for a 20,000 capacity hometown gig.

The popular quartet will be playing in front of a hometown crowd for the first time in almost two years and the news has been greeted with excitement and anticipation by the Middleton group’s fans.

The one-night only performance by the indie rock band will take place on June 5 at Heaton Park, on the eve of the annual Parklife Festival weekend which takes place on June 6-7 at the same venue.

The last time the four-piece took to the stage in the city of Manchester, they packed out the 16,000 capacity Castlefield Bowl, making the upcoming Heaton Park performance in front of 20,000 their biggest headline gig to date.

The band, fronted by Liam Fray, burst on to the music scene in 2008 with hits such as Not Nineteen Forever and What Took You So Long bulldozing their way into the UK charts. They achieved further success with the gold album release of Falcon in 2010 and have enjoyed a busy few years touring international festival events.

The band are also set to headline V Festival later this summer.

The alternative punk rock band Peace and Blossoms have been announced as the supporting act for the June 5 gig, with local band Bipolar Sunshine also performing before The Courteeners take to the stage.

A limited amount of tickets for the much-anticipated gig are still available via the online ticket distributor Viagogo. The cheapest listed tickets available are currently priced at £54.90 in the general admissions area, including all booking fees.

Tickets listed on Viagogo are subject to availability and doors to the event open at 5:30pm on the day, with performances from supporting acts getting underway around 5:45pm.

Getting there: Perhaps the easiest (and safest) way to access Heaton Park is via public transport. The Metrolink Bury service stops just a five minute walk from the park at the appropriately named Heaton Park stop. TFGM bus routes are also available.
