Father’s Day 2015: Treat dad to a Man Brunch

The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh will be hosting a string of special foodie Father’s Day events.

The whole family are being invited down to the village pub to enjoy a Bring Your Own night, a Summer Menu Tasting Evening, Man Brunches, plus the venue’s Sunday Best Menu which will be served on Father’s Day.

A pub spokesman said: “With the prospect of some sunshine and longer summer days on the horizon, The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh has set its sights on a superb season of events and plenty of the good stuff to enjoy over the coming months.

“The pub’s pretty courtyard garden has had a make-over making it a glorious little sun-trap for enjoying a lazy al fresco lunch and a good bottle of wine or a delicious plate of something sizzling from the barbecue, washed down with an icy cold beer.”

Ever heard of bringing your own food and drink to the pub? Well, now you can when The Richard Onslow launches a monthly Bring Your Own night on June 3.

Held on the first Wednesday of the month, customers can come to dinner at the pub armed with a bottle (or two) and enjoy a fantastic supper washed down with your choice of wine.

Whether it’s a dusty vintage Malbec that you have been saving for a special occasion or just your favourite plonk from the supermarket, all you will pay is £2 a bottle for corkage.

On June 11 it’s time to celebrate the start of summer with the Summer Menu Tasting Evening.

Head chef Kevin Webb has created a menu celebrating the best of this glorious season – think greenery from beans to fresh, peppery leaves; tomatoes that taste and smell of tomato, fresh sardines, mackerel and native lobster as well as flavoursome strawberries and raspberries.

The tasting menu costs £35 per person including wine and a welcome drink.

June 21 is Father’s Day and the pub will be holding special Man Brunches with a big meaty plate of sausages and bacon to tuck into.

For £9.75 The Richard Onslow Cooked Breakfast includes free-range bacon, Jimmy Butler’s pork sausage, fried bread, baked beans, mushroom, tomato, hash brown and eggs.

There will also be pancakes, poached free-range eggs and hollandaise, scrambled eggs and sausage and bacon muffins for smaller appetites.
