Proposal for 10 new homes on site near village

An outline application for a development of 10 detached houses has been submitted for a north Northumberland village.

Applicant Mr P Sutherland has submitted the bid to Northumberland County Council for a change of use from agricultural land to residential by erecting the 10 homes as well as parking, landscaping and gardens on land opposite Longframlington Cemetery.

The site is a privately-owned parcel of land in agricultural use on the northern edge of the village, between the A697 and North Road with some residential properties to the south.

The site is a field with mature hedging around its boundaries. The hedging will be retained other than where the new access road is to be positioned. Access to the site would be directly from North Road via a new vehicular/pedestrian route.

A planning statement submitted with the application explains that the site is next to the existing built-up area of Longframlington and is not within a conservation area or affected by any listed buildings.

The consultation expires on Friday, May 22, but no comments have been submitted yet.

A number of new homes have been built or approved recently in Longframlington.

Land north of Rimside View: In November last year, property developers Cussins were given the green light for 37 new homes. Four of the homes will be sold at discount-market value with a contribution also made to off-site affordable homes.

Healeycote View: Also in November, we reported that Two Castles Housing Association, working with developer Partner Construction, had built 25 energy-efficient homes, on Rothbury Road, for rent to local people.
