Maisons-Laffitte: Prix Servanne (Listed) 6f, turf
Noozhoh Canarias, who made headlines last season as a rare Spanish-bred and trained runner in both the Qipco 2,000 Guineas and Darley July Cup, will make a low-key return to action on Tuesday in the Listed Prix Servanne.
The son of Caradak was sent to the Chantilly base of Carlos Laffon-Parias following his two Newmarket raids under the care of Enrique Leon, rounding off 2014 when finishing third behind Olympic Glory in the Qatar Prix de la Foret on Arc day.
Noozhoh Canarias is reunited with regular partner Christophe Soumillon and will face eight rivals – headed by Group 3 winner Bamiyan – in what connections hope will be a springboard for the £500,000 Krisflyer Sprint at Singapore’s Kranji racecourse next month.
“He’ll be up against horses with a fitness edge but he is ready for his comeback,” said Laffon-Parias at Longchamp on Monday.
“In terms of pure quality he is better than the rest and, although he might be a little short of work, other than that, he is very well. He’ll have his favoured fast ground and it is a prep race for Singapore where he is entered on May 17.”
