The former Black Lion pub in Mill Road, Gillingham, dates back to the 19th century but closed in 2013 after a fire.

The damaged building, which is opposite Medway Park, was granted planning permission in March to transform it into one five bedroom and one three bedroom home with garages and parking.

It also has permission for a new access road around the back with five more three-bed homes to be built brand new on the unused land.

It is one of 68 lots listed for sale by Clive Emson next month and is being offered with a freehold guide price of £730-750,000.

“The plans show that of the five new-built properties, one will be detached and the others in pairs. There will also be a large garden included.” – John Stockey

John Stockey, auctioneer, said: “The plans show that of the five new-built properties, one will be detached and the others in pairs.

“There will also be a large garden included.

“It is a superb development project and we anticipate interest from builders and developers.”

Also being auctioned on May 5 is a plot on Chatham High Street.

The vacant site at numbers 389-393 also has planning permission, this time for 11 one bed, and 13 two bedroom apartments above a ground floor commercial space.

It has a freehold guide price of £400-425,000.

Auctioneer Ben Snelling said: “This site is situated among the regeneration and new housing schemes already under way nearby.

“This is a substantial development site in one of the principal Medway towns and we anticipate a great deal of interest.”

The auction will be in the conference centre at Kent County Showground, Maidstone, at 11am.
