Couple of weeks ahead its April 28 launch, details of the LG G4 have been revealed with the brief surfacing over the weekend of a company micro-site dedicated to the smartphone. The official leak leaves little to the imagination of what the flagship might finally look like, and even includes a significant number of specifications.
A Google Plus user Pedro Peguero Jr. (Valiant Pixels) first spotted the micro site, which now has been taken down. The website screenshots via Android Police indicate the LG G4 will come with a ‘Genuine Leather’ rear panel for premium variants in six colours – Black, Brown, Maroon, Blue, Gold, and Yellow. Moving away from G3’s faux leather design, the handset will also arrive featuring a plastic rear panel with ‘textural hammered-array pattern’ in three colours – White, Black and Gold.
The upcoming LG G4, with squarish texture, will flaunt a ‘slim arc design’ that the company’s micro-site revealed is meant to feel natural in the user’s hands, and offer a firm grip while holding the smartphone. The device, like the LG G2 and LG G3 has its power and volume buttons placed on the rear panel under the rear camera. As for the display, the flagship smartphone will equip an IPS screen, which has been revealed before, and will deliver ‘crisp images rich and authentic in colour’.
The software version listed on the briefly leaked site is surprisingly Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. However, the version might bump up to Android 5.0 Lollipop by the time it hits the shelves.
In the camera section, the leaked micro-site shows the ‘Manual Mode’, which gives users full liberty to play with shutter speed, OIS, brightness, image quality (raw/ jpeg), White Balance and more . It will also feature a ‘Normal’ and ‘Simple’ camera mode, both of which are yet to be detailed.
The LG G4 will house an SD card slot to expand the inbuilt storage, alongside a removable 3000mAh battery – something rather rare on Android flagship smartphones nowadays. While the handset measures 149.1×75.3×8.9mm, there is no word on its weight.
The Korean smartphone maker, like with the LG G3, will be offering a flip cover for the G4. The accessory will be available in several colour variants. The page however, failed to mention anything on the chipset of the handset. Nevertheless, looking at LG G Flex2, which launched in January this year, the G4 might be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC.
LG has till date confirmed a few of specifications for its upcoming G4 smartphone. The handset will feature a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×1560 pixels) resolution IPS display with a pixel density of 535ppi; LG UX 4.0 with new features, 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture; LED flash and laser autofocus, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
