AN East Staffordshire firm has been rewarded for its success after it was named in a league table celebrating business growth.
Riviera Travel, based in Wetmore Road, Burton, has been listed 20th in the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 league table.
The company, which has been selling tours and cruises to customers for more than 30 years, has seen its profits grow an average of 83 per cent a year over the last three years to £9.9 million in 2013.
Managing director David Clemson told the Mail it was down to working for the customers and what they wanted. He said: “The achievement has been made because we focus very much on meeting the needs of the customers and providing an excellent customer experience.”
In December 2014, Phoenix Equity Partners backed a management buyout of the company, which currently employs 84 people, by Mr Clemson.
The company’s profit growth over the last three years was above the average growth recorded by the Sunday Times and BDO of 68 per cent.
Riviera Travel also grew 29 per cent more than the next West Midlands company on the list, gambling giant bet365, which is based in Stoke-on-Trent.
A further four companies based in the West Midlands feature on the list including businesses from Leamington Spa, Telford, Warwick and Redditch.
The featured West Midlands companies collectively made profits of £366 million, employ 6,600 staff and have created 2,400 jobs for people in the last three years in a boost to the regional economy.
