It is almost 50 years since Frank and Jess Kennett donated their Stanwell Park home to the United Protestant Association to be used for the purpose of aged care.
Now with UPA moving residents to a new facility in Stanwell Park, the Kennett Home Residential Aged Care Facility is on the market.
Donated to UPA in 1968, the original homestead was upgraded and expanded to accommodate 24 residents.
Located at 103-107 The Drive, Stanwell Park, the hostel is just metres from Stanwell Park Beach.
The property is listed with Simon Beaufils of Ray White Helensburgh who said the facility had potential for a wide range of uses and expected there would be interest from a variety of people and organisations.
The property has 24 separate bedrooms with bathrooms and is set on land that has four separate titles with a combined area of 1845 square metres, all zoned R2 residential.
Mr Beaufils said despite the uncertainty surrounding a potential buyer and the “endless” possible uses, it was clear the sale was a rare opportunity.
He was reluctant to put a price tag on the property at this stage.
“The land value alone is very high, but what people will be willing to pay beyond that remains to be seen.”
