Halifax homes for champagne tastes

A $5.499-million listing on Ridgewood Drive in south-end Halifax tops the list of the most expensive homes for sale in the city.

“Eventually, we will compile a list of the most expensive and cheapest houses for sale in Canada’s major cities and resorts,” Roxana Baiceanu, with Point2Homes.com in Saskatoon, said Monday.

Baiceanu said the Point2Homes.com top-10 list shows list price and location, but the website company does not comment or make any comparisons. Only homes in Halifax proper are covered, and not all of Halifax Regional Municipality.

Analysts at Point2Homes.com plan to publish the top 10 list twice a year, she said.

“Our main goal is to expose listings from various demographics which would interest a broader audience, including first-time buyers, buyers looking to relocate and luxury property buyers,” Baiceanu said.

“For-sale luxury listings tend to be more stable than average ones. However, since we are only using active listings to create these lists, they do tend to change every couple of months.”
