43 Darley street – soon to become two new shops and an apartment complex
A GRADE II listed building in Bradford city centre will find a new lease of life as apartments and a new shop.
The building, at 43 Darley Street, opposite the Kirkgate Centre, is currently comprised of empty shops, including the former Millets, and vacant upper floors.
Bradford Council has granted planning permission to RS Virdee to turn the empty upper floors into nine, two bed apartments. The building dates back to the 1870s, and planning officers said: “The application would introduce a long term use into this vacant listed building.”
The applicant is waiting to hear back on a separate planning application, for new shop fronts at the ground floor of the building, and new signage. Those applications reveal that the new shops will be an RSPCA shop and a business called “Darley Boutique.”
