6. Entrants must describe in no more than 100 words why they would be best
suited to participate as a crew member in Leg 3 (Cape Town to Albany,
Australia) of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2015/16.
7. All entries submitted must be in English, be the work of the individual
submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a
prize in any other competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to
ensure that their entry does not infringe the copyright of any third party
or any laws.
8. Copyright in all entries submitted for this competition remains with the
respective entrants. However, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable,
perpetual licence to Telegraph Media Group Limited and Clipper Ventures PLC
to feature any or all of the submitted entries in any of their publications,
their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this
competition. Entrants will not receive remittance for such publication,
though their work will be credited.
9. Late, illegible, incomplete or defaced entries, or entries longer than 100
words will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost
entries and proof of transmission or posting will not be accepted as proof
of receipt. Entries must not be submitted through agencies or third parties.
10. The judges will be looking for entries that indicate there is an
interesting story behind the entrant’s entry. The decision of the judges is
final and no correspondence will be entered into.
11. A short list of suitable entrants will be selected from all entries and
will be telephone-interviewed by a member of the Clipper Crew Recruitment
team. Where appropriate, short listed entrants will be invited to attend a
face-to-face interview either in Gosport, Hampshire, or at one of the city
centre venues being visited by the Clipper Crew Recruitment team.
12. The short-listed entrants will be notified within two weeks of the closing
date of the competition.
13. One winning entrant shall be selected from the short list and be invited
to participate in Leg 3 (Cape Town to Albany, Australia) of the Clipper
Round the World Yacht Race 2015/16. The dates will be in October/November,
2015 subject to confirmation on or before April 27, 2015. The prize includes
economy class travel from the UK to Cape town and from Albany to the UK, to
be booked by Clipper Ventures PLC; training; and suitable race crew clothing
for participating in the Race Leg.
14. The winner will be required to sign Clipper Ventures PLC’s Crew Agreement.
The winner must commit to a full training programme by Clipper Ventures PLC
provided at its Gosport Training Facility, subject to available dates, which
must be completed successfully before the start of the race, scheduled for
August 30 2015. Training is over four separate weeks and includes weekends.
15. The training programme includes accommodation, food and beverages and does
not include travel, personal expenditure or incidental costs.
16. If at any point after selection, Clipper Ventures PLC decides, at its sole
discretion, that the winner is not suitable to participate in the Race for
any reasonable reason, Clipper Ventures PLC reserves the right to withdraw
the prize from the winner and the winner shall not be entitled to any
compensation.
17. Should the winner be unable to participate in any part of the prize or
fail to meet the Clipper Round the World Race Crew, the Promoter reserves
the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and, if appropriate, award
that entrant’s prize to another entrant.
18. The prize is non transferable and subject to availability. There is no
cash alternative.
19. The prize as described is available on the date of publication. Events may
occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prize
impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and/or Clipper
Ventures PLC. Accordingly the Promoter and/or Clipper Ventures PLC may at
its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and entrants agree that
no liability shall attach to the Promoter and/or Clipper Ventures PLC as a
result thereof.
20. The Telegraph is responsible for the first part of the competition, which
is the publication and adjudication of the entries for the short-list. The
selection of the overall winner and all other facilities connected with the
provision of prize is the responsibility of Clipper Ventures PLC.
21. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in
accordance with the laws of England and the English courts shall have
exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes arising in relation to
the prize draw or these terms and conditions.
