The Indiana Free Library will offer the following free programs next week:
Monday
• Musical Mondays, 10:30 a.m.: “Bear Songs.” Especially for pre-readers. Bears are often portrayed in children’s books as humorous and well-loved animals and our songs today will reflect this attitude. (Children’s department)
• Dr. Marcus History Lecture, 1 p.m.: “New Directions for Immigration.” We will place this topic in historical context going back to the 19th century. We will notice that the State of Liberty is not the appropriate symbol of these policies. Refreshments will be served. (Second floor reading area )
Tuesday
Toddler Tales, 10:30 a.m.: “Bears, Bears Everywhere.” Especially for children 18 months to 3 years of age. Toddlers often have a favorite stuffed toy that they love to take with them, and often this favorite toy is a teddy bear. Today’s theme, “Bears, Bears Everywhere!” features the book “Old Bear” as well as finger plays, nursery rhymes and songs about bears. (Children’s department)
Wednesday
• Preschool Story Time, 10:30 a.m.: “All About Dogs.” Especially for children ages 3-5. This week’s theme is “All About Dogs!” We will read “Bark, George!” and “Harry the Dirty Dog,” share some rhymes and songs, and create a craft for this week’s theme. (Children’s department)
• Knitting Club, 10:30 a.m.: Learn to knit or improve. Beginners are welcome.
Experienced knitter Celesta Capizzi will be on hand to teach and provide guidance. Knitters are working on scarves to donate to Comfort Scarves of Southwestern PA. (Community Room)
• IFL Film Club, 6 p.m.: “Guardians of the Galaxy.” A group of space criminals must work together to stop a fanatical villain from destroying the galaxy. The screening is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Thursday
• Book Babies, 10:30 a.m.: “The Very Ready Reading Program,” especially for little ones from birth to 18 months.
