Cattery at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home gets listed status

cat

You’ve got to be kitten us! It was announced today that after 115 years, Whittington Lodge, the original cattery at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, has been granted Grade II-listed status. Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in 1900, the cat home has now (finally) been identified as the first purpose-built cattery in England. Meow, we’re sorry to say that technically Whittington Lodge isn’t used as a cattery any more, as its feline inhabitants were moved to a new cattery in 2010, but it’s still a good day for all the pussy fanciers out there.
