• Pine River Area Food Shelf: Is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, and from 3:30-7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month, in the basement of First Lutheran Church in Pine River.

The food shelf needs volunteers for Soups and Sweets. Anyone interested in joining the committee to work on the Soups and Sweets fundraiser held in late March should call 218-587-4292.

• Free Tax Help: Will be offered again from February to mid-April. Check with the family center at the end of January to find out when the appointment schedule will become available.

• Home Visiting Program: Has immediate openings for parents who would like additional support with their pregnancy and parenting their child to age 3 years. Free prenatal gift bags are available to all families who are expecting a baby and who live in the Pine River-Backus School District.

• NAPS: Pick up is from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13.

The family center will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
