“SP 500 ETFs are an incredibly competitive part of the ETF industry. It was the most important index trade of the year for many investors, with the SP 500 outperforming the Russell 2000 [US smaller companies] and the [technology-focused] Nasdaq index,” says Nicholas Colas, chief market strategist at Convergex, a New York-based broker.
