The Eastern Coney Island across from Eastern Michigan University’s campus is for sale.
A co-owner reached by The Ann Arbor News said she owned the property, at 533 W. Cross St., with her husband, Daniel Daywood. The co-owner, who declined to be identified, said they put the restaurant on the market because they live in Wixom, it isn’t making enough money and they aren’t able to hire adequate help.
But she said she believes the location is strong for a restaurant and noted that the $79,000 listing price includes all the restaurant’s equipment.
“People know this place as a Coney Island, but any kind of restaurant would work here,” the co-owner said. “It comes with a full kitchen. All the equipment. We’re not taking any of that.”
The approximately 1,000-square-foot building is listed for sale by owner and has been on the market since October, according to the co-owner.
Records on the city of Ypsilanti website don’t have the parcel listed separate from other addresses with which the restaurant shares a building, so the assessed value isn’t available. It was formerly Gianni’s Coney Island.
Eastern Coney Island is one of several commercial buildings for sale in Ypsilanti. The buildings housing downtown Ypsilanti’s Da Lat Vietnamese restaurant and Ypsilanti Cycle were each recently listed. A building with three commercial storefronts in Depot Town is also on the market.
