An iconic cliff lift is being repeatedly defaced by vandals after receiving a makeover by volunteers.

The Walpole Bay lift in Cliftonville had fallen into disrepair after years of neglect but members of the community decided to repaint the structure to brighten the area.

The Art Deco structure was recently awarded Grade II listed status by English Heritage joining the Walpole Bay Tidal Pool which was also listed this summer.

However, since the repaint, graffiti has appeared on the walls on numerous occasions. Members of the community have vowed to continue repainting the structure.
