An abandoned self-serve car wash near the Golfside Road and Washtenaw Avenue intersection is on the market.
The one-acre property at 2459 Golfside is listed for $289,000 by Swisher Commercial. According to Charlie Koenn, a broker with Swisher, the price includes all the former car wash’s equipment, which was functioning when the business shut down two years ago.
He said it could used again as a wash or the land could be redeveloped.
“There’s an opportunity there for redevelopment, or if someone wants to improve or upgrade the infrastructure, then there’s some potential,” he said.
Two buildings still stand on the property, one with five bays that was built in 1980 and another with two bays was built in 1967.
Pittsfield Township records show the one-acre property has an assessed value of $202,000, which is up by $9,000 over the previous two years.
Koenn said the owner, listed as Brotherhood Properties on the Pittsfield Township assessing site, closed the business in 2012 because he didn’t have time to maintain it and other properties he owns.
The property is zoned form-based and is within one of six development “nodes” identified in the Pittsfield Township master plan.
It sits across the street from a plaza with a vacant former Farmer Jack that remains on the market and an At Home that recently redeveloped a former Kmart.
