A new residential and retail development has been launched at a former Saundersfoot hotel.
It includes eight town houses, four apartments, a coach house and two retail units situated at the village’s listed Cambrian Hotel, which ceased trading in 2006.
Originally The Milford Arms, the earliest known public house in Saundersfoot, the building was transformed into The Cambrian Hotel in 1845. It is a town landmark, as the place where the Picton Castle rents were collected and where planning meetings for Saunderfoot’s first regatta were held.
The £5 million project, which has been backed by Saundersfoot Community Council and funded by Principality Commercial, will provide over 100 jobs during its construction and operational life.
The apartments have retained the traditional character of the hotel, including its sign, to ensure they aesthetically match other properties in the area.
All homes can be purchased from £380,000 to £410,000 and the development will be complete by November.
Matt Bryant of Actoris, a partner of DAW (Saundersfoot) said: “We are delighted to breathe life into this landmark building that is at the heart of the village.
“With six of the new homes already gone, we are certain the development will be fully sold out and bursting with activity very quickly. To provide a cornerstone for Saundersfoot’s future ambitions to be a premium destination for tourism is a great achievement for us.”
Andrea Gardner, Sales Manager at Waterstone Homes, added: “The properties can be residential homes all year round or let to tourists throughout the year – not just during peak season.
“The development’s location is fantastic, and 90% of the properties have direct sea views.”
