Hull

Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, 7.30pm, Hull City Hall. Featuring performances by the EYMS Band, 150 Regiment RLC band, Lucy Marshall, LCpl Alex Shakespeare, HSY ACF Black Light Display Team, TS Iron Duke Sea Cadet Corps, Haltemprice Junior Rock Choir, Do-Re-Mi Singers, Lesley Julian and a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ Finale. A special Remembrance Weekend event will be held at the Streetlife Museum in the Museums Quarter of High Street.
The free event includes military vehicles, re-enactments, live music and children’s activities and a charity raffle. There will also be a full-sized replica First World War tank. Times Saturday 10am – 4pm and Sunday 12-4pm.
Sunday, November 9
Remembrance Day Parade. The main ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph on Ferensway at 10.55am. Anyone wishing to take part in the parade to the Cenotaph should meet at Pease Street on Anlaby Road (near the flats) at 9.55am. Step off at 10.25am. The marching contingent will arrive at the Cenotaph on Ferensway at 10.30am. The civic party will leave the Royal Hotel at 10.45am before the service starts at 10.55am. Wreaths will be laid at 11.02am. The contingent will then march past at 11.25am. Ferensway will be closed for the duration of the parade. Members of the public can gather in viewing areas around the Cenotaph.
At 11.30 am at Paragon Station on Ferensway a service of dedication will be held to unveil new wooden panels listing the names of more than 2,000 men from Hull lost in World War One. The Reverend Neal Barnes of Holy Trinity Church will conduct the ceremony and all are welcome to the event.
Beverley
There will be a service at Beverley Minster on Sunday followed by a memorial service and laying of wreaths in the Memorial Gardens, Hengate.
The parade will assemble under the guidance of representatives from the Defence School of Transport. Anyone wishing to take part should assemble for instructions in the School Lane Car Park, at the rear of Beverley Fire Station, by no later than 10.15am. The parade will leave for Beverley Minster at 10.25am and will proceed along New Walkergate, Railway Street, Eastgate and into Minster Yard North.
Anyone not involved with the above parade should proceed directly to The Minster, entering by the Highgate Door and take their seats as indicated by the churchwardens. Guests are asked to be seated no later than 10.30am. The service will commence at 10.50am.
The parade will reassemble in Minster Yard North and proceed along Eastgate, Wednesday Market, Butcher Row, Toll Gavel and Saturday Market, to the Memorial Gardens in Hengate. The Salute will be taken at the Market Cross in Saturday Market, Beverley. Members of the public wishing to take part in the memorial service and laying of wreaths should assemble in the Memorial Gardens in Hengate. This Service should start at 12.15pm, depending on the parade speed. On entering the Memorial Gardens, Civic Dignitaries, parade members and anyone wishing to lay a wreath, will be directed into position by Royal British Legion.
Bridlington
There will be a parade to mark Remembrance Day on Sunday, which will start at 10.20am. The parade will be from Station Approach to the Bridlington War Memorial. A service will take place at the memorial and will include a two minutes silence. After leaving the memorial, the parade will continue down Prospect Street before finishing on King Street.
On Tuesday November 11, there will be a short service and a 2 minute silence at the Bridlington War Memorial which will get underway at approximately 10.40am.
Cottingham
A Remembrance Day service at the war memorial in the grounds of St Mary the Virgin Church starting at 10.45am on Sunday.
Driffield
A concert will take place at the Old Town Hall in Driffield on Saturday, November 8 with proceeds to the Poppy Appeal. Tickets are £5.00 and will be on sale from a charity stall on Driffield Market from Thursday November 6. They will also be available to buy on the door on the night.
On Sunday at 2.30pm there will be a Service of Remembrance at the All Saints’ Church. Clergy from Driffield Churches Together will take part in the Service. Guests include the Lord Lieutenant’s Office, Armed Services, Ex Service Associations, welfare organisations, public services and youth associations.
After the Service, at the War Memorial in the church grounds, 28 wreaths will be laid by associations and organisations.
There will be a Service of Remembrance in the Garden of Remembrance at 10.55am on November 11 – with two minutes silence at 11am. The Mayor of Driffield, Coun Phil Stocker, will lay a wreath on behalf of residents. Small crosses will be available for anyone who wishes to pay their own silent tribute to a friend or loved one.
Goole
Service at the war memorial cenotaph at 10.15am on Sunday.
Hessle
Hessle Civic Remembrance Parade and Service on Sunday. The parade will muster at 2pm at Hessle Town Hall and march to All Saints Church Hessle for the Remembrance Service and wreath laying ceremony at 2.30pm. There will be refreshments after the service at Hessle Town Hall. All are welcome.
Hornsea
The Remembrance Day Service will take place on Sunday at 10.45am in St. Nicholas Church, Newbegin followed immediately by a parade to the War Memorial in New Road where the wreath laying ceremony will take place. This year, in honour of those who lost their lives during this war, the names of ten of those listed on the Memorial will be read out, hopefully by some younger members of the community. It is envisaged that the procedure of ten names being read out will continue until 2018 when the final names will be acknowledged. The names will be read in alphabetical order.
Howden
Howden Minster (St Peter St Paul), Civic Remembrance Service at Howden Minster (St Peter St Paul). The service begins in the church at 10.15am on Sunday, proceeding to the town centre war memorial for the Act of Remembrance.
Keyingham
Service at Keyingham Methodist Church at 10am on Sunday before a walk around to the war memorial for the laying of wreaths.
North Ferriby
North Ferriby Remembrance day Parade and Church Service. Members should meet at the Club in Low Street from 10am on Sunday ready to move off at 10.25am. The Parade moves off to the Cenotaph for a short service and laying of Wreaths, then onto the church for a full service. After the service the parade will return to the club via Church road into the school playground. The club will host an afternoon of Remembrance and a social event to enable everyone to meet old friends who they don’t see too often.
Patrington
Service at St Patrick’s Church on Sunday at 10.30am. Lord Lieutenant Brian Bradley will be the official guest. On Tuesday, November 11, there will be a ceremony in Patrington Village, where local schoolchildren will lay crosses at the war memorial. Secretary chairmen will then lay wreaths around local villages.
Pocklington
Remembrance Day Parade leaves the Balk at 2pm on Sunday.
South Cave
Remembrance Sunday service on Sunday commencing at 2:45pm at memorial followed by service at the church
Withernsea
Service at Withernsea Methodist Church on Sunday at 10am, which will be followed by wreath laying at the new war memorial. There will be wreath laying at the old war memorial at 11am on Tuesday, November 11.
Various locations
Special displays featuring thousands of poppies handmade by schools, community groups and museum visitors across the region will be on display at various locations throughout November.
The displays were designed by Hull artist Martin Waters with each poppy marked with the name of a soldier from the region who died during the First World War.
The poppy installations are on display at Beverley Minster until November 19, Beverley Art Gallery until November 22, Ferens Art Gallery in Hull until November 23 and Holy Trinity Church in Hull (including a special memorial to service personnel lost in Afghanistan) until November 28.
