Camden’s former RCA building, now Victor Lofts, listed for sale, report states – The Star

CAMDEN — The former RCA “Nipper” Building, since renovated into the Victor Lofts apartment building, is for sale, according to philly.com.

The price of the 356,420-square-foot building hasn’t been disclosed by real estate firm CBRE, but the 341-unit high-rise is marketed as luxury waterfront living, according to the listing.

“Although many questioned our initial vision, the Victor offered luxury loft apartment living with stunning views of the Philadelphia skyline, unprecedented proximity to mass transit, and unmatched service and amenities on the Camden waterfront,” a spokesman for Philadelphia-based developer Carl Dranoff told the newspaper in a statement.

A $3 million loan Dranoff received in 2003 from the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) for conversion work “was to remain interest-free until 2009,” according to the report.

At that time, Dranoff would “start repaying it in monthly installments of $23,259 until the end of 2014,” the newspaper reported, when a lump-sum payment to settle the balance of the loan was to be paid.

There have been no payments made toward that loan, Jeffrey Nash, Camden County freeholder and DRPA vice chairman, told the newspaper.

“Dranoff Properties spearheaded the renaissance of the Camden Waterfront, now heralded as one of the region’s top corporate, civic, entertainment, cultural and residential destinations,” according to the real estate company’s website.

The real estate marketing firm’s listing sells the building’s rental rates as “significantly less than rents at comparable Center City Philadelphia properties, giving the property a substantial price advantage over competitors.”

The structure, which celebrated its 100th birthday back in 2009, was originally built as a manufacturing area for the Victor Talking Machine Company. Among those who call the apartment building home are New Jersey Sen. Donald Norcross and Camden school Superintendent Paymon Rouhanifard.
