HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO610.COM) – Houston Texans linebacker Brooks Reed missed Friday’s practice with his latest groin injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Reed said Friday he’s likely to be a game-time decision.

“That’s the goal. The goal is to play this week,” he said. “Just day-by-day, trying to get better and feel better, and get as much treatment as possible.”

That’s become a bigger challenge this week, Reed said, with the Texans having less time to prepare than normal after having played on Monday night last week, when Reed started but before pulled himself out after halftime. There wasn’t a single play that caused this latest flare-up, Reed said, but something that happened “gradually” due to “the normal wear and tear” of life as an NFL inside linebacker.

The pain Reed is dealing with is “nowhere near” that of last season’s groin injury, Reed said. But it’s still one of the toughest things he’s had to play with.

“I’ve hyperextended knees and stuff like that played through that,” Reed said. “But yeah, trying to come back through a groin — it’s not the most painful thing, but it’s, you know, you can do it. It just takes some time to heal and get the inflammation out. That’s the main thing. Getting the inflammation out. That’s what causes pain.”

Reed has played every game the last two seasons, starting in all but one. This season, he has 20 tackles, 1.o sacks and an interception this season for the Texas, who look to snap a three-game losing streak and run of four losses in five games Sunday.
