OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A male victim remained hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after being shot by two suspects last night.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Charles Street and Campbell Way regarding a shooting victim.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was talking on his phone outside of his home when he was approached by two Hispanic men.

The suspects allegedly demanded the victim hand over his personal belongings. When the victim refused their request, one of the suspects shot him with a handgun.

The victim was transported to a hospital, underwent surgery, and was listed in critical condition.

Detectives described the suspects as being in their 20s with medium builds. Only one of the suspect was armed with a handgun.
