Derelict Grade II-listed pub to be converted into housing
A DEVELOPER has been given the green light to convert a derelict pub into housing.
Work will begin soon on turning the Grade II-listed Thatched House pub in East Howe into two semi-detached houses.
A further four new houses will be built in the grounds.
John Fish, of Fish Developments, said the property’s thatched roof and distinctive windows will be carefully renovated.
He said: “As a local developer, I am delighted to have been given the opportunity not only to renovate an historic local building, but also to enhance the site on which The Thatched House public house sits, by creating a small development of cottages within the grounds.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local residents who fully supported me throughout the application process, particularly given the chequered history of the old public house.
“Whilst the planning process has been both lengthy, and indeed challenging, the local councillors and community have been extremely supportive and I very much look forward to commencing works on the development in the near future.”
He also thanked Tanner and Tilley, the Bournemouth-based planning agency who handled the application.
When the pub was open, it was the subject of noise and antisocial behaviour complaints from local residents.
