Former Bedford Girls’ School 12 year old, Lydia Singer releases her debut single “Meteor” as she shoots for the Top 40 charts.
Lydia’s aim is to get at least 4,000 downloads of her song on itunes from 5th Oct, for a week, to stand a chance of making the Top 40 Charts.
She said: “I’m unsigned, not an X Factor finalist or a teen boy with a guitar, but I’ve a cracking song and a good voice to go with it.
Just imagine if a 12 year old unknown made it into the Top 40 Charts and on national radio stations where airplay is only given to signed artists.”
Lydia, from Woburn, Bedfordshire, is aiming high despite her young age and is picking up radio airplay all over the country with her new single, which is released via I Tunes and all other digital outlets, on October 5.
The song was co-written by Rob Davis, who’s best known for writing Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
Chris Straw, Bauer Radio Ltd said: “This young lady has a voice that’s mature well beyond her years.
“Nice build on the song too and a strong chorus. If this is what she can do at 12, she’s gonna have a voice with the power of a laser by the time she’s 18.” .
Lydia worked with vocal coach Lauren Field and it was through this connection she started working with Lauren’s husband, record producer, Charles Foskett.
Charles made his friend Rob Davis aware of this fresh new singer and Rob was so blown away by her voice that he agreed to co-write the song for her.
The three of them came up with Meteor – a song about young love – especially for Lydia.
As well as releasing her debut single, Lydia is also writing her own material and working with producer Steve Salvari.
Lydia’s musical influences are Eva Cassidy, Adele, Jessie J and Emeli Sande and she hopes, one day, to be as successful as them. She loves to perform at live events and her aim is to make it in the music industry and judging by the power of her voice at this age, we think that dream may just come true.
Lydia needs the people of Milton Keynes to get behind her. Local radio station, MKFM, have play listed Meteor and events management company, Real Music MK, frequently have Lydia singing at their gigs around the city.
