SOUTH Shields Football Club’s innovative main sponsor draw is taking place for a second year.
The Northern League club is offering businesses and individuals the chance to become its main sponsor for just £100 – and the draw takes place on Monday.
The Shields Gazette is one of the companies in the running to become the club’s main sponsor – and there is still time for others to follow suit.
The package is usually worth between £5,000 and £10,000, with the winner set to get their company name and logo on the Mariners’ home strip, as well as a large perimeter advertisement board at Shields’ ground, Eden Lane in Peterlee.
The logo will also feature on the front cover of every matchday programme, as well as a full-page advert inside.
As happened last year, South Shields MP Emma Lewell-Buck will select the lucky winner at Labour’s Ede House headquarters, in Westoe Road.
That draw was won by Westoe Lettings. Even those who are unsuccessful in the draw will enjoy benefits, with a business advertisement and web link placed on the club website, and their company will be listed in every matchday programme for this season.
The winner, meanwhile, will also get complimentary tickets to all Mariners corporate events, match sponsorship of a game of their choice, and their company logo on a regular newsletter sent out to subscribers.
Shields are playing their second season out of town, in Peterlee, but remain hopeful of making an announcement soon regarding a return to South Tyneside after losing their Filtrona Park ground last season.
The Mariners say they have been happy with the response to the scheme so far, and are hopeful more will enter over the weekend.
Club chairman Gary Crutwell said: “I would like to thank everyone who has entered the draw so far.
“The scheme is very important to the club, and it would be great if more people could come forward and support us before Monday.
“I’d like to wish everyone who has entered the draw good luck, and we look forward to welcoming our new main sponsor on board on Monday.”
Anyone who would like to enter the draw can call Mr Crutwell on 07947 480054, or commercial assistant Bob Wray on 537 2633.
Meanwhile, in another attempt to raise funds, the club is holding a golf day on Friday, September 26.
The event will take place at Boldon Golf Club from 2pm, and the cost of a fourball is £100, including food.
There will be cash prizes for best teams, while businesses can also sponsor a hole for £23, which will allow them to get their logo and details on the tee, as well as in the club’s matchday programme.
Anyone interested in entering a team can call 07795 024 333.
