Floyd Mayweather is 37 years old and had his hands full four months ago with Marcos Maidana, but age and struggles haven’t prevented oddsmakers from seeing Mayweather as a strong favorite heading into their September 13 rematch on Showtime pay-per-view.
Bovada currently has Mayweather (46-0, 26 KO) listed as an 8-to-1 (-800) favorite to win the fight, with the line moving just a bit from the -750 it opened at in July. Floyd was listed at -1100 a week before the first fight, and went on to win a tough majority decision at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, which will also host the rematch.
Maidana (35-4, 31 KO) has a line of +500 to score the upset right now, only slightly off from the +475 he opened with a couple of months back. He was +650 for the first fight, so odds are a little closer on him this time, and with good reason. As Mayweather may not be the favorite he was the first time, Maidana is certainly not quite the underdog he was, either.
