It’s getting tougher to keep up with the Joneses in Hillsboro Beach.
A single-family home on Millionaires’ Mile hit the market Thursday at what the broker calls the highest price for any home listed for sale in the nation: $139 million.
The 60,000-plus square-foot estate, Le Palais Royal, stretches across 4.4 acres and boasts 465-feet of beachfront and 492 feet on the Intracoastal Waterway.
“It is the most expensive home for sale in America,’’ based on the Multiple Listing Service, said William P.D. Pierce, the listing agent at Coldwell Banker.
Pierce said the owner, whom he wouldn’t name, designed the property “as a palace for his family,” but had a change of plans.
Records show the property is held by a trust whose beneficiary is Robert Pereira.
The house at 935 Hillsboro Mile has a 492-foot private dock that can accommodate a megayacht of up to 185 feet. It also spans a second lot, 939 Hillsboro Mile and has an underground 30-car garage.
The property, built by Miami-based Coastal Homes of South Florida, is in “the final phase of construction and slated for completion before the end of 2015,” the brokerage said.
The entrance has a 13-foot, 22-carat gold-leaf gate. A 26-foot entrance fountain is among six waterfalls. The kitchen has mahogany and gold-leaf cabinets.
Among its over-the-top features are a “$2-million marble staircase with steel-iron railing and gold leaf, which took craftsmen more than two years to construct,’’ Coldwell Banker said.
The 11-bedroom, 17-bath manse includes “the first-ever IMAX Theater contracted for private use, featuring a 50 by 27-foot screen and seating for 18 with a bar and IMAX lounge,” a gushing press release said. “Whatever plays in an IMAX theater, plays in the house,’’ Pierce said.
The home has three master-bedroom suites and a presidential master suite. Each has a Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean or Intracoastal Waterway.
It also has a 4,500-square-foot infinity-edge pool with a 12-foot cascading waterfall, a double-loop LED-lighted waterslide, fire pit and swim-up bar.
